Competition time at Village Toastmasters

It was competition night, where club members competed against each other in the impromptu and humorous speech categories.

Village Toastmasters were “Game for a Laugh” at the recent club meeting on August 18.

It was competition night, where club members competed against each other in the impromptu and humorous speech categories.

During the Impromptu speaking contest, the speakers demonstrated their ability to think on their feet as they were given the topic “blossom”.

There were inspiring stories as speakers gave personal accounts of how they had blossomed in their lives.

The winner, Ms Dorothy Venter, had an entertaining slant on the topic, speaking from the perspective of both butter and Blossom margarine.

Second and third place winners were Mr Laurence Newman and Mr Jayson Naicker, respectively.

The humorous speaking contest had the audience in stitches as speakers shared side-splitting stories from their daily lives. The winner in this category, Mr Edwin Wood, related his hilarious encounter with a trade union in a London toilet. The first placed winners will go through to the area competition.

Village Toastmasters meets the third Tuesday of every month at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, on the corner St David and Koster roads, Elma Park.
