Rand Aid’s Jeanetta off to the Congo

An avid gardener, bird watcher and a keen reader, Ms Kritzinger started her professional career as a registered nurse working at 1 Military Hospital.

The Inyoni Creek complex manager, Ms Jeanetta Kritzinger, bid farewell to the Rand Aid Association retirement village after eight years.

She will be going to the Congo for a short adventure.

An avid gardener, bird watcher and a keen reader, Ms Kritzinger started her professional career as a registered nurse working at 1 Military Hospital.

She then worked at the Derdepoort Mission Hospital.

“I did everything from putting petrol in cars to selling coffins, administering anaesthetic and ‘operating’ on dogs. After that adventurous year, I worked at the Fouriesburg Municipal Clinic, doing community health nursing while completing my BCur degree,” said Ms Kritzinge.

The need for adventure called again and she took a job as a community health nurse in the Kruger National Park and the surrounding private game reserves.

After leaving the Kruger Park, she worked in a private hospital before she entered the world of retirement centre management. Ms Kritzinge ran a retirement centre in Boksburg and later another one in Bloemfontein.

“Shortly after that, I was promoted to the head office as a project manager for a business re-engineering project. At the end of the project, I was appointed as the national care manager for the company. During this time, I managed to complete a management course and also my Ba Health and Social Sciences degree, with a specialisation in Psychological Counselling,” she said.

After eight years, she accepted a new challenge as the national operations manager for the SA Federation for Mental Health.

“Then my love for older people and bigger challenges called and I accepted the Inyoni Creek challenge. I also continued studying and finished my honours degree in psychology.

“Seeing the village and its people grow and go through various developmental stages to become the awesome community it currently is, has been the highlight of my time here,” said Ms Kritzinger.

Ms Kritzinger will be working as a nurse with Africa Events and Catering, the company that will be catering for the 11th African Games scheduled for September 4 to 19 in Brazzaville, Congo, before taking a four month holiday.

After that, she will be launching her own life-coaching practice, putting her nursing and psychology skills to use in helping others achieve balance and happiness.
