‘Gold tooth’ served with notice of contemplated suspension/transfer

In response to questions asked in Parliament, the Minister of Police, Mr Nkosinathi Nhleko, confirmed that Constable DM Mapatlare, implicated as the “Gold Tooth” officer at the Edenvale SAPS, was served with a notice of “contemplated suspension/transfer”.

Other questions asked included the reasons for not placing the officer on special leave and who was conducting the investigation.

“In reply, the Minister of Police said the member was served with a notice of contemplated suspension or transfer. He submitted a representation in reply to this notice. The Provincial Commissioner is presently considering the member’s representation and will make a decision with regards to the suspension or transfer,” said Member of Parliament Mr Mike Waters.

He added that Captain Bakker, from Provincial Legal Services, was conducting the investigation.
