Buddy the rescue dog and his handler, Reverend Joe Adler, have joined the Tiles4Change team.

The dynamic duo recently held a rescue demonstration at the Karaglen Shopping Centre, where Buddy showed the vital role of recuse dogs in emergency situations.

During the demonstration, Buddy and Rev Joe abseiled from the top floor of the Karaglen Shopping Centre to the ground floor before Buddy set to work to find an injured child.

Once the child was located, Buddy waited with him while Rev Joe called for backup.

Onlookers applauded as the two emerged from the area where the injured child was.

In his partnership with Tiles4Change, Buddy will visit local schools with Rev Adler to chat to pupils about self-worth and bullying in schools.

Buddy is currently also lending a helping paw to Vets for Change.

In honour of the canines which served in 9/11, Buddy and Rev Adler will Kayak from Plettenburg Bay to Mossel Bay to raise funds for Vets for Change.

Their journey will last five days.

Vets for Change was established eight years ago as an action plan to alleviate the suffering of animals in the Cullinan area.

Buddy and Rev Joe’s efforts will go towards the much-needed inoculation, pet education and outreach programmes in the area.

The team needs to raise R100 000 to get the project off the ground.
