UPDATE: Hijacked courier van found, Visa applications still missing

'Depending on how quick Home Affairs can issue new passports they need to reissue the UK visa.'

Social media was abuzz this afternoon after news broke that a bakkie transporting VISA (Bogus Metro cops hijack van transporting Visa applications) application documents to the Visa Application Centre in Johannesburg was hijacked in Bedfordview.

Travel agency, Sure Travel Scene said its customers were affected by the hijacking.

“Our clients were unfortunately affected by this incident resulting in applying for new passports once again. Depending on how quick Home Affairs can issue new passports they need to reissue the UK visa,” said the company in a Facebook post.

The bakkie, a white Toyota Hilux hijacked in Bedfordview by three suspects, was later allegedly found in Kempton Park.

The VISA applications as well as personal accompanying documents are yet to be found.

 

Spokesperson Sergeant (Sgt) Mduduzi Nhlabathi said one of three suspects, wearing full uniform of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).

 

A mani hunt for the suspects is still on and according to Sgt Nhlabathi police investigations are still underway.
