Murder accused attempts suicide before court appearance

The man was due to appear in court today on charges relating to the death of Mr Deneeghere.

The man accused of killing Edenvale businessman Mr Louis Deneeghere attempted suicide in the Boksburg Prison last night.

The man was due to appear in court today on charges relating to the death of Mr Deneeghere.

The charges include murder, robbery, residential burglary, kidnapping and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The case against the man was postponed to August 6.

In the September 29, 2010, edition of the NEWS, it was reported that Mr Deneeghere was reported as missing.

The spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Warrant Officer Jean Olckers, told the NEWS that Mr Deneeghere had disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Mr Deneeghere, a duel South African/French citizen, was last seen at the Morningside Country Club on September 18, 2010.

His vehicle, a white Volvo station wagon, was found abandoned in Cleveland on September 21, 2010.

A month later, Mr Deneeghere’s body was found in a field near Sebokeng with a gunshot wound.

The man accused of murdering Mr Deneeghere was arrested by the Boksburg North SAPS.
