DJ’s son dies in fire

Well-known DJ’s son burns to death at home in Bez Vally.

Club 808 presenter, Clive ‘DJ C Live’ Shabalala’s son has died in a fire at his home in Bez Valley.

The incident occurred shortly after 10pm last night

Investigations are still underway into the cause of the fire, but preliminary investigations indicate a bar heater may have started the fire that killed Nadif Kgoleng (11).

His grandmother, Mrs Virginia Shabalala, said the preliminary investigations have revealed that the fire may have possibly been started by a bar heater.

“He was hysterical, crying and saying the house was on fire. He said Nadif was burning. I could hear my grandson crying in the background,” said Mrs Shabalala.

Mrs Shabalala said she was in Bergville in Kwazulu-Natal when she received the news.

“I cannot confirm what happened but the fire investigators say the fire may have been started by a heater. His father saw it too late. He sustained some burn wounds from trying to his son. My grandson died in the fire,” she said.
The grandfather, Mr Alfred Shabalala, described his grandson as a warm, loving child.

“He was very warm and intelligent. A child who did not resort to violence when angry, even when playing with other children. He collected many awards at school,” said Mr Shabalala senior.

Mrs Shabalala said Nadif’s mother had committed suicide in February.
The funeral arrangements will follow.
