Edenvale SAPS feeds the homeless

There are still good people in Edenvale.

The Edenvale SAPS and community members decided to spread the warmth on Thursday night.

They distributed food parcels to the homeless in Edenvale and handed out food parcels, blankets and clothes.

“I just felt Edenvale needs some positivity and what better way than giving back to the community,” said Reservist Sergeant Elize Filotto.

“A big thank you to everyone who donated items to assist our handout,” she said.

Mr Marlin Pillay, from Savika and the K9 dog unit, assisted with the handout and was able to donate gloves and beanies for the homeless to keep warm.

Pick n Pay donated food parcels and Chaplain Vaughn Grantham also donated sanitary kits and food parcels.

“Thank you to LSG skychefs and Lisa Antonopoulous and her team for their donations,” said Chaplain Grantham.

The team managed to hand out parcels to many homeless individuals who were overjoyed when they received the donations.

“I am blessed today. Thank you so much,” said Mr Glen Maghato, who calls the Edenvale streets his home.

Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, from Edenvale SAPS, also assisted with the handouts.

He was excited to help and the individuals enjoyed chatting to Lt Col Roberts.

“I know Mr Roberts well – thank you for the food. There are good people in Edenvale,” said Mr Baloyi, who also calls Edenvale streets home.
