According to a Facebook post by Mr Andre Snyman on eBlockwatch four female house robbers may be targeting Edenvale households.
“There are four females driving around in a white car which was last seen on First Avenue, Edenvale yesterday,” Mr Snyman said.
“They somehow get your domestic worker’s name and a few days later they ring your bell when you are not there and the domestic worker answers. They address her by her name. They tell her they are from UIF and need to check her details on their files as there is a mistake,” he stated in the post.
She lets them in and they proceed to rob the house.
“This scam works because of three elements. It is four females so you lower your guard because they do not fit the robber profile. They address the domestic worker by name so they are not strangers anymore and they tell the domestic worker she is losing out and they are there to help her,” Mr Snyman pointed out.
