Details have emerged following the arrest of a young woman in Edenvale on Saturday.
According to several posts on social media, the family of the woman were given the “run around” while it took 14 hours to process her application for bail.
The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said nine people were arrested on Saturday morning for speeding on Terrace Road.
“The woman was caught travelling at 98km/h in a 60km/h zone,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that driving at over 90km/h constituted reckless and negligent driving.
“She was caught at 8.14am and booked into the police station at 9.15am, along with the other motorists caught speeding,” said Lt Col Roberts.
“When officers began processing the arrested motorists, the woman was in the visitors room with her visitors. Officers then continued processing other motorists,” said Lt Col Roberts.
Those arrested were caught by officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).
