Morninghill house robbed after gate left open

The gate to the property was slightly open when a charcoal-coloured BMW with four men pulled up in front of it.

The spokesperson for the Bedfordview SAPS, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, has urged residents to listen to advice issued by police officers.

This comes after a house in Morninghill was robbed on June 24.

Sgt Nhlabathi said the gate to the property was slightly open when a charcoal-coloured BMW with four men pulled up in front of it.

“The victim, a 31-year-old man, was outside cleaning when the men came in and pointed a firearm at him. They took him and the domestic worker into the house and demanded that they lie down,” said Sgt Nhabathi.

He said, “We cannot emphasise how careful people need to be. Home owners must educate their employees to remain vigilant at all times. Keep all doors and gates locked, even if you are sitting outside.”

According to Sgt Nhlabathi, the property taken is estimated to be worth R50 000.
