#Corrie’s family thanks the NEWS, community and supporters

"We feel that had it not have been for the request for help and support from the media, Corrie would still be at home without medical assistance."

Edenvale resident, Corrie Le Grange’s family issued a statement thanking all those who assisted in ensuring he receives the medical care he needs.

Below is the statement released late Thursday night by Corrie’s granddaughter, Cherish Pretorius:

“We the family of Corrie Le Grange would like to take this opportunity to thank each individual who assisted us and supported us  – Mrs Linda Mckenzie, members of Hillside Community Church, the IRA (Illiondale Residents Association), the Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS, Rapport , Beeld, 702, Edenvale Fire Department, Ekurhuleni Metro, Mamba, E-mer-G-Med paramedics Derick and Damon, Mr Lebo Tshabalala who made his van available and to the gentleman who offered his trailer to transport the bed to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital.

Each and every individual who offered help, support, prayers and well wishes on news reports and articles made it possible for Corrie to be admitted to hospital.  When it seemed that all hope had been lost, you each made it possible for him to receive medical assistanc.

“We cannot express how grateful we are. Each and everyone who were present in person, spirit and prayer made it possible for him to be admitted and transported to hospital and it would not have happened without you.

“We feel that had it not have been for the request for help and support from the media, Corrie would still be at home without medical assistance.

“After several requests at various hospitals, the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital has assured us that he will be medically assisted and treated to the best of their ability.

“The hospital has requested that the media and visitors be limited as the doctors and staff need time to do the investigations needed to ensure treatment.

“We apologise for the delayed response. This has been a very difficult time for us and today, July 2 must have been the worst we have experience. We will try our best to keep the people who support us updated on Corrie’s progress.

“We will update the media on a regular basis on how Corrie is progressing.”
