LISTEN and WATCH: #400kg Corrie finally hospitalised

"Corrie is at Johannesburg Hospital and although there were a few issues at first, I can confirm Corrie has been admitted to hospital."

Mrs Linda McKenzie who has been with #400kg Edenvale resident, Mr Corrie Le Grange and his family since yesterday when they made their first public appeal for assistance in ensuring Corrie receives the medical care he needs, has confirmed Corrie has been hospitalised.

“Corrie is at Johannesburg Hospital and although there were a few issues at first, I can confirm Corrie has been admitted to hospital,” said Mrs McKenzie.

The NEWS first reported on Mr Le Grange’s pleas for assistance yesterday. It was then reported his kidneys are failing and despite his desperate medical condition, the attempts by his fiancé, Ms Shammy Rademeyer to have him hospitalised were not successful. Since Mr Le Grange’s suffering began, the family have appealed to various hospitals in Johannesburg for assistance and treatment but have been turned away.

Yesterday the mood in Mr Le Grange’s household was visibly tense and his family members were anxious about his health. With the assistance of Mrs McKenzie and the Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS, the family’s pleas for help were answered.

Earlier today the Edenvale Fire Department and Emer-G-med set up outside Mr Le Grange’s Illiondale house from where he was transported to hospital.  Edenvale SAPS sector 2 were also on scene as well as Phoza Driving School to assist with transportation to hospital.

Edenvale resident, Mr Lebo Tshabalala who also assisted with the transportation said, “I am happy to assist a fellow resident,” he said.

“Thank you to the Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS for the assistance right from the start. The community assisted a lot since the NEWS broke the story,” said Mrs McKenzie.

Corrie’s granddaughter told the NEWS he was diagnosed with ascites roughly a month ago. The disease’s symptoms include abdominal swelling, edema, which is the swelling of the feet, a serious skin condition and severe water retention.
