Four Bedfordview Primary School pupils attended the Ekurhuleni All-Styles Development Tournament held at Wits Education campus on May 9.
The tournament was held to develop youngsters who are new to the art of tournament karate.
For many it was their first tournament.
Mikayla Alves received a gold medal for kumite and silver medal for kata, Nicolas Alves received a gold medal for kata and bronze medal for kumite, Chulumanca Mkontwana received gold medals for kata and kumite, and Robert Andersch received a silver medal for kumite and bronze medal for kata.
“They executed their drills and tactics remarkably well and came back to the dojo very excited about their medals,” said sensei Russell Sim.
