EMM reacts to Horwood’s Dam pollution

The state of Horwood's Dam was due to a sewer blockage, which took some time to identify the actual position.

Edenvale residents’ complaints about the pollution in Horwood’s Dam resulted in an inspection, conducted by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Muncipality (EMM).

In response to complaints from residents, the EMM’s spokesperson Mr Themba Gadebe said, “The state of Horwood’s Dam was due to a sewer blockage, which took some time to identify the actual position.

“The sewer blockage was eventually found in St Joseph Street. This spilt sewerage then flowed from Tunney towards Herman Road, into the Hurleyvale stream and eventually into Horwood’s Dam.

“This sewage will contain limited volumes of industrial effluent since that area does not have any major companies generating industrial effluent.

“The problem has been attended to and is now resolved,” said Mr Gadebe.
