Ekurhuleni reviews spatial development frameworks

All public comments and representations must reach the EMM’s city planning office by June 29.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) is calling for residents to participate in reviewing the current Spatial Development Framework.

The EMM also wants an update of the draft Regional Development Frameworks (RSDFs) for Regions B, C, D, E and F.

All five RSDFs will be consolidated with the existing RSDF for Region A, which will result in the revision of the Metropolitan Spatial Development Framework (MSDF).

Region B includes Edenvale, Tembisa and Kempton Park north.

Region F includes Alberton, Germiston (south of the N17), Boksburg (south of the N17), Thokoza, Katlehong and Vosloorus.

The EMM’s spokesperson, Mr Themba Gadebe, urged members of the public to get involved.

“Participation by members of the public from the various regions will add more value when deriving the spatial development vision,” said Mr Gadebe.

He said this will guide the process of drafting the Spatial Development Framework patterns within the metro, which are associated infrastructural development as well as capital investment.

The updated MSDF and RSDF reports are available for perusal at Ekurhuleni customer care centres, the EMM’s city planning offices, in all municipal libraries, and on the EMM’s website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za

All public comments and representations must reach the EMM’s city planning office by June 29.

Members of the public can forward their comments and representations by e-mail to emmrsdf@gibb.co.za

Hand delivered comments can also be submitted at the Customer Care Centres, City Planning Offices or the City Planning head office at the corner of Margaret Avenue and Kempton Road in Kempton Park.
