Greenstone community cleans up

The community filled about 70 bags with glass beer bottles, plastic bottles, cigarette butts and illegal advertising signs.

Greenstone Hill residents were out and about to clean up their neighbourhood on June 6.

The community filled about 70 bags with glass beer bottles, plastic bottles, cigarette butts, illegal advertising signs, empty containers, condom wrappers, cigarette boxes, plastic wrappers, chocolate and chip wrappers and empty cold drink cans.

The two parks that border Edenvale and Greenstone were also cleaned.

The parks are located behind the Pebble Creek Estate and Aloe Ridge Complex in Greenstone.

Some local businesses also went out to support the clean-up operation.

Green Valley Shopping Centre sponsored allocated parking at the shopping centre, as well as a security guard and staff to help clean up the area.

Ocean Basket Eden Meadows provided bottled water for everyone to remain hydrated.

Seeff Edenvale sponsored staff to help with the cleaning. They made clean-up packs, which included gloves and a plastic bag for everyone. The group also provided fruit for everyone.
