Fame staged by Jeppe Girls

With a cast of more than 40 members varying between dancers, singers and musicians, the production included the lead played by Lerato Niklaas as Carmen, Motatiwa Malatjie as Goody, Sidra Davids on drums as Lamb Chops and Sukeina Issufo as Schlomo.

Jeppe High School for Girls staged its production, Fame the Musical, during May.

It was originally a production by David De Silva, who produced the film in 1980. The film was about the students at New York City’s High School of Performing Arts.

With a cast of more than 40 members varying between dancers, singers and musicians, the production included the lead played by Lerato Niklaas as Carmen, Motatiwa Malatjie as Goody, Sidra Davids on drums as Lamb Chops and Sukeina Issufo as Schlomo.

The dancers were Nthabiseng Sibuyi, Darrian Wharren, Margret Nkata, Jenna Orchard and Meghan Jarvis.
