“We need to be united in this mission, this is not just a health issue but a human development issue,” said Keegan Hall, the spokesperson for Diabetes South Africa.

Diabetes South Africa, in association with sponsors such as Coca-Cola Zero, are using the platform of the Global Diabetes Walk to increase diabetes education, prevention, awareness and to encourage South Africa to unite and deal with the diabetes pandemic.

“We are proud to be a part of the initiative to drive awareness around diabetes. This is becoming a large concern globally and it is critical for businesses, government and civil society to work together towards education and prevention of the disease. As a company, we are focused on encouraging energy balance and active, healthy lifestyles,” said Vukani Magubane, the public affairs and communications director of Coca-Cola South Africa.
