They say you are never too old to find love.

Mr Edward Abrams and Ms Heather Kinsman found out how true those words are when they recently said “I do”.

The couple were married on May 9.

They are the second set of residents from Rand Aid’s Thembalami Care Centre to tie the knot.

Ms Denise and Mr Julius Koen married in November 2013 and have been living happily since then.

Dressed in black and white, Mr Abrams and his bride walked down the aisle at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bedfordview.

After the ceremony, they enjoyed a reception with family and friends at the Tarentaal Village hall.

While Mr Abrams has been a Thembalami resident for over 10 years, Ms Kinsman moved in last December.

“I was at breakfast one morning when she walked in, and I knew then that I was going to marry her,” said Mr Abrams.

“I said he was nuts when he asked me to marry him within a week of meeting him,” said Ms Kinsman.

“I was not thinking of getting married again. But he persevered and we went from acquaintances to friends and soon we fell in love,” said Heather.

Both enjoy walks, movies and spending time with loved ones. Collectively, they have seven children and seven grandchildren.

Mr Abrams said all he needs now to complete his life is an automatic tuk-tuk, so that he and his new bride can enjoy little jaunts together.
