New dispensation for e-tolls

E-toll for licence renewal.

A new dispensation regarding e-toll tariffs has been developed.

This was in response to concerns regarding high costs of transportation as a result of e-tolling.

All categories will be reduced by 50 percent.

“This reaffirms the user pay principle as being the source of funds for upgrades and improvements to Gauteng freeways. The new system restores policy and legal certainty for both road users and various spheres of government. It will enable SANRAL to continue meeting its vital infrastructure mandate, to raise capital on the bond market, to meet debt obligations and to improve its credit rating ” said the provincial director from GCIS, Peter Gumede.

“This method is not intended to punish vehicle owners, but to enable road users to pay a fair and reasonable amount for infrastructure that is vital to the development of the country” he said. Six need-to-know facts about the new dispensation:
