Home gets fresh paint job

Celebrity paints with Plascon.

Ms Edith Venter, a former Edenvale resident and with the support of Plascon, donated 100 litres of paint to the Gerald Fitzpatrick House and Nursing Home in Troyeville.

The home was repainted and completed on May 16.

Plascon embarked on a project to reach out to communities through selecting different celebrities to choose charities for a 15 year guarantee paint job.

Brand manager, Ms Lungi Koni said, “We started the Number 15 Guarantee Challenge in order to celebrate the quality of Plascon paint and in so doing, we are giving back to the community. This opportunity allows for charities to gain support as well as receive a paint job, which gets people excited.”

The chairperson of the Gerald Fitzpatrick Home, Mr Robert Stone, shared his thoughts on the event by saying that the executive committee and the residents of the home are grateful to Plascon Paints and to Edith Venter, who organised the repainting of the significant and important parts of the home.

“It is wonderful to have the needs of the elderly also considered,” said Mr Stone.

The day was spent painting the premises while the residents were visited by several celebrities.

The celebrities who visited the residents included the current Mrs South Africa Thando Mbele-Sibotshiwe, former Miss South Africa Bernelee Danielle and Scandel actress, Fiona Ramsay. They also assisted with painting the home.

Ms Venter said, “I am pleased with the turn out of the event. Thank you to Plascon for approaching and creating this opportunity to assist charities in need. They are amazing for allowing me to choose the Gerald Fitzpatrick House and Nursing Home as it survives purely on sponsorships.”
