Local dancers to represent SA in Romania

Three residents from Edenvale, dancing at the Dance Cats studio at the Morninghill Country Club, have been selected to represent South Africa in the Dance World Cup.

The event will be held in Romania, from June to July.

The three contestants, Courtney de Meillon, Deryn Evans and Emannuel Thodlana, competed in the Dance World Cup SA qualifier in March and qualified to participate.

The competition is said to have more than 18 000 competitors from 38 different countries competing at the finals this year.

Courtney, Deryn and Emmanuel have been trained in ballet, modern, tap, ballroom and many other dance styles by their head coaches, Owen Kroeger and Pam Kollnick.

The dance studio will host two fundraising events to get their three stars to Romania.

The fundraising events include a Poi Fire demonstration and tuition on May 23 and the big event will be a Barn Dance Glitz on June 6.
