Grandmother, granddaughter in same role, 35 years apart

Phoebe Worrell (16), a pupil at Edenvale High School, is starring in the Proteas' latest production, ‘See How They Run’.

It was an English comedy written by Phillip King, and the show takes to the stage from May 22 to June 6 at Tom Newby in Benoni.

Phoebe is excited as both her grandparents, Len and Christine Webber, were in the famous show 35 years ago.

She will be playing the role of Ida, the same role her grandmother played years ago.

Phoebe said, “This has been a challenging role and I have a lot to live up to.”

Unfortunately, her grandmother resides in the UK now and will be unable to attend. Phoebe’s grandfather, Len, who stays in the St Georges Home in Bedfordview, looks forward to attending the production.

He is excited to see the exact show he was in 35 years ago and, of course, his granddaughter performing as Ida.
