Community welcomes SAPS

Bedfordview station commander Colonel (Col) Sevha Shiburi has thanked the Elandsfontein community for not taking part in the recent attacks against foreign nationals.

The Bedfordview station commander, Colonel Sevha Shiburi, thanked the Elandsfontein community, which is part of the Bedfordview SAPS precinct, for not taking part in the recent attacks against foreign nationals.

Col Shiburi was speaking during an Imbizo held at Sizwe Secondary School last Saturday.

He encouraged the community to engage with the station as far as police visibility and the investigation of cases are concerned.

The Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said the SAPS seeks to instil the culture of community participation through the event.

Also in attendance was councillor Ashley Rutherford, as well as members of the youth desk.

Cluster commander, Brigadier Phumla Mdlankomo, reminded the community about the importance of knowing their sector numbers. She also gave the station commander’s phone numbers in case people are met with challenges concerning cases reported to the station.

Sgt Nhlabathi said it was important for residents to be reminded about the sectors they live in and what numbers they need to phone should they need assistance from the SAPS.

r Elandsfontein falls under Sector 3, together with Meadowdale, Meadowbrook, Klopperpark and Tunney. The numbers to phone are 0710 675-6889 and 071 675-6890.

r Those living or working in Senderwood, Bedford Park, St Andrews, Morninghill, Essexwold, Bedford Gardens, Oriel, the vicinity of Bedford Centre and Eastgate fall under Sector 1 and the number’s to call are 071 675-6885 and 071 675-6886.

r Sector 2 incorporates everyone living or working in the central Bedfordview area, the RAG area or Wilbart. The numbers for the sector SAPS are 071 675-6887 and 071 675-6888.
