A Tembisan man was arrested 19 years after he stole a vehicle in Edleen, Kempton Park.
The Sebenza SAPS communications officer, Constable Sharon Tsotsotso, said a 42-year-old man stole a car in June 1997.
“The owner of the car parked his vehicle in a parking lot. When he returned, the car was missing. It was found abandoned later that day. The SAPS has been searching for the suspect since 1997. He was traced through his fingerprints,” she said.
According to Const Tsotsotso, the suspect was arrested at his home in Tembisa shortly after 8pm.
“He will appear in court soon. This should be a lesson to all those who commit crime and think they will escape the law. The arm of the law is long. No matter how long it takes, you will be caught at the end,” said Const Tsotsotso.
