Dealers arrested in CBD

At one of the houses officers found a selection of stolen goods as well as implements used in residential and business burglaries.

Following a special operation in the Edenvale CBD on Tuesday last week, four men were arrested for possession of, and dealing in, crystal meth and cocaine among other drugs.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the arrests were made with the assistance of the Savika K9 Unit.

“The drugs have an estimated street value of R8 000,” said Lt Col Roberts.

The operation took place after the SAPS received numerous complaints from residents about possible drug hot spots.

“A number of houses were searched with the assistance of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and the department of health, in an attempt to deal with overcrowding in Edenvale,” said Lt Col Roberts.

At one of the houses, officers found a selection of stolen goods as well as implements used in residential and business burglaries.

“We were also able to arrest three foreign nationals who were residing in South Africa illegally,” said Lt Col Roberts.

After the first leg of the operation was completed, the units moved on to searching several businesses in the CBD where the drugs were found.

Specialist dogs, Conan and Fiane, were used to find the drugs.

Among the drugs recovered, were several packets of cocaine and crystal meth, as well as cocaine rocks and dagga.
