Colonel thanks CPF for support

A representative from the Ekurhuleni Metroplitan Police Department (EMPD) added that at some point there were stones placed on the interchange, where the N3 and M2 highways meet.

The outgoing visible policing head at the Bedfordview SAPS, Colonel Ausker Pratt, urged motorists to exercise caution while driving along the Geldenhuis interchange.

According to Col Pratt, stones are thrown at moving cars from the bridge.

“Criminals know that motorists will stop to check the damage to their cars and that is when they hijack and rob people of their belongings. We urge people to be careful when driving along that route, especially when driving at night,” he added.

Col Pratt was speaking at the recent instalment of the monthly meetings held by the Bedfordview Community Policing Forum (BCPF), at Hall’s Estate on Van Buuren Road.

Come April 30, Col Pratt will retire from the service.

A representative from the Ekurhuleni Metroplitan Police Department (EMPD) added that at some point there were stones placed on the interchange, where the N3 and M2 highways meet.

Col Pratt thanked members of the BCPF for all the support during his time at the station.

At the meeting, EMPD warned motorists of criminals posing as EMPD officers and robbing people of their belongings.

“This has been reported along the R24 between the Barbara and Edenvale roads off ramps,” he said.

Chairperson, Mr Gavin Henry, reminded residents to be on the lookout at all times as criminals are always quick in their actions.

The ward 20 councillor, Clr Jill Humphreys, said she was working on getting the relevant departments at the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) to consider constructing a traffic circle at the intersection of Kloof and Talisman roads.

“This is after we received complaints from motorists about other motorists not honouring the stop sign,” said Clr Humphreys.
