The women were wanted for shoplifting at shopping centres across Gauteng.

The Yeoville SAPS communications officer, Constable Thabo Malatji, said one woman had 43 warrants against her and the second woman had 15. The women are aged 32 and 34 respectively.

“Police officers were doing stop-and-search operations when the arrests were made. The women were arrested at different times and both were positively linked to the shoplifting and theft cases through their fingerprints.

“The woman with 43 warrants was also using different names during different arrests,” he said.

Const Malatji said the women will appear in court soon.

He added that the women were among 34 people arrested over the weekend.

“The SAPS made various arrests over the weekend, which included arrests for theft, assault, malicious damage to property, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drugs and shoplifting,” said Const Malatji.
