A Cyrildene shopkeeper and his customers were held up by robbers inside his shop on Derrick Avenue on April 11, early in the morning.

The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said five men entered the shop pretending to be customers.

“Once inside, one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and ordered the customers and staff not to move. The other suspects then tied the victims up with cable ties and searched them. They took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and from customers and staff. The suspects fled the scene in a Toyota Quantum,” said Const Mashakane.
