Foreign business owners clearing out goods from Jules Street shops
“Foreign business owners have begun to remove goods from their shops,” says senior journalist, Duenna Mambana.
Senior Journalist, Duenna Mambana, reports that foreign owned businesses on Jules Street are clearing out their goods.
“I have just finished a few interviews with businesses owners. The only businesses open today are owned by South Africans. While they are open, the businesses are not trading, they are observing the situation,” Duenna said.
“Foreign business owners have begun to remove goods from their shops,” she said.
Last night, xenophobic violence spread to the Alexandra informal settlement.
It has been reported that some 8 000 foreign nationals have been displaced following a week of violence in Durban and Johannesburg.
By sunrise calm had been restored to most areas.
