Robbers takes school pupils’ cellular phones

Two men were arrested for robbing school pupils of cellular phones in Yeoville on March 24.

The robbery took place next to the corner of St Georges and Innes streets at about 12-noon.

The Yeoville SAPS communications officer, Constable Thabo Malatji, said the men confronted two pupils when they were returning from school.

“The men threatened the pupils with knives and took their cellular phones. After they left, the pupils reported the matter to the police. A manhunt ensued and the suspects were arrested at a house on Muller Street. The phones were also recovered,” said Const Malatji.

He added that the men will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of armed robbery.
