Residents warned against supporting ‘rangers’ at shopping centres

The Edenvale Community Police Forum (CPF) has warned residents against supporting ‘rangers’ supposedly raising funds for saving rhinos.

According to the Edenvale CPF chairperson, Mrs Linda McKenzie, ‘rangers’ are often deployed at various shopping centres in Edenvale.

“We have received numerous complaints from residents regarding these men collecting money,” said Mrs McKenzie.

She added that the Cipro numbers for the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) were cross referenced and it was found that they are no longer a registered NPO.

“When we questioned one of the rangers on Sunday, we were told the funds were raised for private rhino owners,” said Mrs McKenzie.

Investigations into the matter will continue.
