Writers 2000 to host award wining writers

Ms Richards is well accomplished. She is a South African novelist and journalist, whose work has been published internationally.

Renowned writers, Ms Jo-Anne Richards and Mr Richards Benyon, will speak at a workshop hosted by Writers 2000 at the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse on February 28

The workshop will be entitled Reading with a Writer’s Eye.

The pair are also partners in Allaboutwriting, which teaches writing skills in creative writing and narrative journalism.

Ms Richards is well accomplished. She is a South African novelist and journalist, whose work has been published internationally.

Among some of her accomplishments are short stories, published in six collections. She convened the judging panel for the Thomas Pringle Short Story Award in 2010 and has also written a number of novels.

Ms Richards is an academic co-ordinator of the Honours programme in Journalism and Media Studies at Wits University, where she has also supervised the Masters programme in Creative Writing.

She regularly acts as external examiner for the UCT Creative Writing Masters programme.

Mr Beynon is an award-winning film and television scriptwriter, with a long and accomplished career in the local industry.

He is a former journalist for the Rand Daily Mail and has conceived, shaped and written scores of documentaries.

For 10 years he edited South Africa’s premier magazine on salesmanship.

He has also written over a thousand scripts for many of South Africa’s television series

The event will be held at the Inyoni Creek Clubhouse, at the Rand Aid Complex, which is situated at the corner of Wordsworth and Modderfontein roads in Lyndhurst.

Members and visitors are welcome to attend.
