Diamond wedding anniversary

Edenvale residents, Janet and Roy Allen, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on March 5.

The couple were married on March 5, 1955, at the Kensington Methodist Church.

Roy and Janet, both 83, spent the early part of their married life in Sunningdale where they raised three children.

Roy served on the PTA and governing body of Sandringham High School in its formative years, while Janet remained a housewife.

Roy worked in the hospitality industry for many years until finally retiring in 2012.

Once the children left home, Roy and Janet retired to Marais Steyn Park, where they have lived for the past 25 years.

With one daughter living overseas, the Allens try to make annual trips to Austria.

Roy and Janet have seven grandchildren, whose school activities they have faithfully supported over the years.

At the wedding of their first granddaughter in October 2014, the entire Allen family was pictured together for the first time.

Janet participates in weekly gym, line-dancing and church activities while Roy enjoys frequent walks around the Edenvale area to maintain his fitness.
