Resident discovers dead dogs

Ms Candice Scorer, from the Sandton SPCA, urged residents to report such cruelty to the police or the SPCA, as animal cruelty is a punishable crime.

Two dogs were killed and dumped in Bez Valley last week.

Mr Tony Jardim, who is a resident in the area, said he found the bodies as he was walking his own dog on January 30.

“I came across the two dogs, while I was out running with my dog. These two young dogs were probably dumped in 3rd Avenue between 3rd Street and 4th Street, at the bottom of Athlone Boys. It is absolute shocking. This is so cruel and it looked like the white dog died in agony. Just look at their feet. They are bound together. This is an act of brutality and I think it must be exposed in all forms,” said Mr Jardim.

Ms Candice Scorer, from the Sandton SPCA, urged residents to report such cruelty to the police or the SPCA, as animal cruelty is a punishable crime.

“The SPCA always tries to push for jail time for those found guilty of animal cruelty. Usually though, the perpetrator just gets a fine. The SPCA cannot do much without getting information from the public,” said Ms Scorer. .
