Motha hits the right notes

Motha, who hails from Mpumalanga, said he moved to Johannesburg in 1996. His love for music bloomed in 2003 when he started singing in church choirs.

Minenhle Motha, also known as Mini-Attitude, is one of South Africa’s up-and-coming musicians. Motha, also known as Mini attitude as he calls himself.

“I decided to call myself Mini-Attitude because I have this persona which takes over when I am on stage,” he said.

Motha, who hails from Mpumalanga, said he moved to Johannesburg in 1996. His love for music bloomed in 2003 when he started singing in church choirs.

The Malvern resident describes his music as a mixture of R ‘n B and Hip Hop, which he calls Fusion.

He has not yet released an album, yet but his mix-tape has been receiving some air-time on local radio stations, including YFM.

He said his mix-tape will be officially launched on February 14, at Broadway in Malvern.

“My music is influenced by my life experiences. The situations I have gone through help me create with my songs,” said Motha.

His childhood had a large impact on his love for music, as Motha grew up listening to music at home.

“I come from a family where music is loved and appreciated. My music has a strong lyrical content and motivation, especially for those who need some motivation,” he added.

He said his music is sung in both Zulu and English.

“Since I started my music, I have experienced a lot challenges, especially with finance and getting your music into the radio stations,” he said.
