Class of 2014 aims for the stars

Holy Rosary School is proud of its Matric Class of 2014 for their outstanding achievements, not just academically, but for transforming their natural talents and potential into endless opportunities in all spheres of life.

This class achieved in the cultural, religious, service and sporting disciplines – including cultural excellence in music, drama and public speaking; service dedication to the school; community and religious commitment to the Church.

77 HRS matric pupils wrote their matric finals in 2014, achieving a 100 percent pass rate and a 97 percent Bachelor Degree pass rate.

140 distinctions were achieved by the HRS class of 2014, with the top HRS matric pupil achieving eight distinctions.

Four HRS girls featured on the IEB Top Achievers List.

191 schools wrote the IEB examinations in 2014, featuring 10 451 candidates.

One other girls school in Johannesburg offers IT as a subject – HRS generally features the highest national average number of girls taking this subject.

20 grade 11’s in Holy Rosary’s Phumelela Outreach Saturday School Programme will step into the shoes of the Class of 2014, and continue the valuable work in 2015.

For 12 consecutive years, the school has won the InterCatholic Athletics.

Seven medals (including three gold) were achieved by HRS at the South African Rowing Champs in 2014, making Holy Rosary the third best girls’ school.

75 years ago, the school was started by Bishop Shanahan with the vision to strive for excellence in education in a global context.
