UPDATE: A second suspect has been shot at Bedford Centre following a cash-in-transit robbery several minutes ago.
According to Bedfordview journalist, Duenna Mambana who is on the scene, two shoppers have been injured as well as two security guards.
“The second suspect shot at Bedford Centre is receiving treatment,” she said.
Various police units are still searching the centre for an unknown number of suspects involved in the robbery.
Duenna Mambana reports that members of the SAPS Flying Squad is entering the centre following this morning’s cash-in-transit heist.
One suspect has been shot and was placed under arrest.
“It has not yet been confirmed how many suspects are involved. The Flying Squad is going in now. Authorities are also trying to confirm the number of wounded and casualties,” said Duenna.
The NEWS previously reported that the area surrounding Bedford Centre is in lock-down.
All entrance and exit points have been sealed off.
“Members of the K9 Unit arrived at the scene a few minutes ago and they are also preparing to enter the centre,” said Duenna.
