Pupil believes sport is more than just fitness

The NEWS caught up with the teenager and her family at the Rhodes Park Tennis Club last Saturday.

Edenvale resident, Cailin Fourie, believes that sport is more than just about keeping fit. It is a way of life.

The teenager was recently selected to play in the Jeppe High School for Girls’ 2nd tennis team.

The NEWS caught up with the teenager and her family at the Rhodes Park Tennis Club last Saturday.

Her parents, Tracey and Louie Fourie, believe their daughter has what it takes to compete in big competitions.

According to Tracey, although Cailin played soccer for most of her life, she has since fallen in love with tennis and is an excellent player for her age.

Asked what she wanted to to after finishing school, the grade 9 pupil said, “I always wanted to be a journalist because I don’t want to sit at a desk all day, but I am not sure anymore. Maybe I could do something with sport.”

The family plays tennis on weekends and according to Cailin, her skills are sharpened during the sessions.
