Mother talks of bouncer brutality as more cases are opened

A mother has spoken out over the beating of four youngsters, this time at a nightclub in Benoni.

Police investigations are still underway following the brutal assault of a nightclub patron in Bedfordview during December.

Readers are asked to take note that the Bedfordview and Edenvale News will not jeopardise any police investigation by revealing details of the case unless comment is received from the SAPS and the nightclub’s management.

After reading the article published on Monday, a concerned mother contacted the NEWS to report similar incidents which occurred on January 2, and again on January 10.

This time at a popular student nightclub in Benoni.

“In the two incidents, four young men were seriously injured,” said, Ms Nikki Griffiths, the mother of one of the young men attacked.

She added that one of the young men injured on January 10 was hospitalised, and underwent surgery yesterday.

It is estimated that the medical expenses incurred following the attack at the nightclub will far exceed R70 000.

According to Ms Griffiths, each of the young men registered a separate case with the Benoni SAPS.

“The four cases will be combined into one docket,” she said.

“We cannot allow these bouncers to behave like this,” Ms Griffiths said.
