Operation held to mark 16 Days campaign

The officers visited the Oakmore taxi rank in Tembisa and Olifantsfontein, where they also distributed pamphlets and spoke to the community about gender-based violence.

Sebenza female police officers were among other female police officers from various police stations who gathered in Ivory Park for the launch of Operation Basadi on November 25.

Operation Basadi was launched in observation of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

Constable Sharon Mahamba-Tsotsotso, of the Sebenza Police Station, said the operation was targeted at raising awareness and educating the community about rape, gender-based violence and general domestic violence.

On the day, Const Tsotsosto said arrests connected to gender-based violence were made in Ivory Park.

Operation Basadi consists of women police officers from the Sebenza Police Station, Kemptom Park, Tembisa and Tembisa South, Ivory Park, Rabie Ridge and Olifantsfontein.

The operation ran until November 28.
