Project color raises funds for charity

Their journey will start on December 27, departing from Johannesburg, and will end in Cape Town on January 11 in 2015.

Project-Colour, an initiative aimed at raising funds for charity, will be launched in Bedfordview on December 9.

The project will see seven matriculants and their support team embark on a cross country trip in tuk-tuks, three wheeler motor-taxis which are popular modes of transport in countries like India.

The travellers will cover a distance of about 3 500 kilometres in a bid to raise money for the St Francis Care Centre in Boksburg.

Their journey will start on December 27, departing from Johannesburg, and will end in Cape Town on January 11 in 2015.

The route will pass through some small towns, including Prince Albert, Hertzogville and Harrismith, to larger cities such as Durban and Cape Town.

Participants include Trevor Byrom, Ruan Brashaw, Lebo Mota, Brendon Crawford, Sebastian Julicher, Thomas Coward, Adrian Burger, Michael Greef, Miguel Couto and Ayrton Da Silva.

The initiative was designed to replicate a similar tuk-tuk race across India, in which competitors are required to raise money.
