Animal Anti-Cruelty League: The result of fireworks
The animal was brought into the AACL’s veterinary hospital for treatment.
While most suburbs reported little firework activity over Guy Fawkes, the euphoria has been short-lived.
Two weeks after Guy Fawkes, the Animal Anti-Cruelty League has dealt with one case which could possibly involve fireworks.
A complainant called the rescue organisation and reported that a dog, which had been missing since Guy Fawkes night, had returned and was lying in front of its owner’s gates.
The pet’s owners where away at the time.
According to a statement issued by the AACL, the complainant reported that it looked as if the dog had a prolapsed anus and on investigation, Inspector Denton Infield discovered that there were serious injuries to the animal, with the tendons of the tail exposed.
Concerned neighbours informed Inspector Infield that they thought some children had been responsible, possibly using fireworks, but the exact cause of injury was difficult to ascertain.
The animal was brought into the AACL’s veterinary hospital for treatment.
The injuries were found to be localised, but not life threatening.
The dog should recover, but may need its tail amputated.
