Friends gather to clean park

Mrs Sharon Lendrum-Frittelli, from the Friends of Horwoods Farm, said the group consists of residents who care about their surroundings.

The Friends of Horwood’s Farm held its last cleaning campaign of the year on Sunday last week.

The group meets every first weekend of the month to clean the park. The following clean up will be in February.

Mrs Sharon Lendrum-Frittelli, from the Friends of Horwoods Farm, said the group consists of residents who care about their surroundings.

“We are trying to keep this as the family-oriented park. A park where one can visit and enjoy the surroundings. The more litter and garbage, the more chances of crime there is. We want to make it look clean and beautiful. We believe that if our park is clean, other people will be discouraged from throwing litter around,” she said.

She added that the group is getting help form schools who have social responsibility programmes for the pupils.

“Pupils join us as part of their school’s social responsibility programmes. We need any help we can get to keep our park clean. That is why we call the residents to come and join us here every first week of the month. It is only about two hours then we are done,” said Mrs Lendrum-Frittelli.

She thanked all the residents who have helped clean up the park in the past year.

“Without your passion, we would not achieved what we did. Those who have not joined us, please come and make a difference. Everyone will benefit from this,” she said.
