Salvation Army’s work in the spotlight

The Salvation Army Corps (churches) throughout South Africa, including Gauteng, celebrated the second annual Salvation Army Day recently through a variety of initiatives.

The initiatives were part of an annual effort to raise awareness of the work performed by The Salvation Army and was held in November.

“Our churches are involved in diverse activities, from outreach work to telling people about our faith. The annual Salvation Army Day on November 8, and activities throughout the month, will allow us to focus on communicating what we are about,” said Major Carin Holmes, the public relations secretary of the Southern African Territory of the Salvation Army.

In Gauteng, there will be a cake sale at the Eastgate Shopping Centre in aid of Strathyre and The Salvation Army’s home for girls in Kensington.

Ethembeni, which is The Salvation Army’s home for abandoned babies in Doornfontein, will be hosting a cake sale at the Cresta Shopping Centre, while the Johannesburg City Corps (church) will be conducting open air services in Hillbrow and making contact with the people of Johannesburg’s famous flatland.
