The Bedfordview SAPS recently held its annual awards ceremony and Constable George Manala took home some of the day’s coveted wards.

Const Manala was awarded both the Visible Member as well as the Top Cop of the year 2014 awards.

In October, Const Manala told the NEWS he was a living testimony that hard work pays off.

At the time, he had been awarded the Top Cop of the Month award five consecutive times.

Between April and August, Const Manala made 90 arrests, most of which were drug-related.

He said, “In April, I arrested 18 people, 10 of whom were in possession of drugs. In May, I made 23 arrests, 14 of which were drug-related. In June, I arrested 16 people, 12 of whom were in possession of drugs. Between July and August, I managed to arrest 33 suspects, 31 of whom were in possession of drugs.”

In five years’ time, Const Manala sees himself in a more senior position within the police force.

“I do not see myself doing anything else. Hopefully I will grow professionally until I become a general,” he added.

Other winners on the day included Warrant Officer Eric Mothibi, who was awarded the Detective Member of the Year and Captain Ephraim Tsebe, who was awarded the Officer of the Year award.

Johnson Crane Hire sponsored vouchers that were handed to award winners.
