Residents are warned that there has been an increase in criminals who pose as garden services, repairmen and contractors targeting homes.
The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said residents should remain alert at all times.
“Do not allow anyone onto your property if they are not supposed to be there. Warn tenants, the elderly and domestic workers to also not allow anyone onto your property,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that residents should also trust their instincts.
“In some cases, residents reported that they felt something was not right. If this happens, rather contact the SAPS sector vehicles or your security provider to assist,” said Lt Col Roberts.
Residents are also urged to report suspicious people or vehicles to the SAPS immediately.
“By reporting suspicious activity, you may prevent another family or person from falling victim to crime. Always be alert of your surroundings,” he said.
