Boat thief arrested, boat found burnt

A man believed to be involved in the theft of a 16-foot boat in Edenvale has been arrested.

The acting spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the arrest was made with the assistance of Stoneridge Shopping Centre security.

“When officers visited the man’s house in Lyndhurst, they were able to recover the trailer used to transport the boat. Unfortunately, the boat was burnt beyond repair,” said Lt Col Roberts.

He added that the suspect was wanted on a string of other charges.

“He will appear in the Germiston Regional Court this morning before he is transported to various other courts where he will face similar charges,” said Lt Col Roberts.
