Clr pleads for road safety

The prayer session started at Brackenhurst Hall in Alberton before proceeding to the scene of the recent accident where over 48 cars piled up after a truck driver lost control of his truck. The accident claimed three lives.

With the hope of decreasing the number of road accidents this festive season, Clr Mthuthuzeli Siboza sought divine intervention last Thursday.

Clr Siboza, who is the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s (EMM) Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Safety, hosted a prayer session with Metro Police on the N12 freeway last Thursday.

The prayer session started at Brackenhurst Hall in Alberton before proceeding to the scene of the recent accident where over 48 cars piled up after a truck driver lost control of his truck. The accident claimed three lives.

Attendees included the MMC for Public Transport, Planning and Provision Clr Thumbu Mahlangu, the deputy chief of police (chief of staff) acting Chief of Police Ugeshni Naidoo, the SAPS Southern Region cluster commander, Brigadier Phumla Mdlankomo, faith-based organisations and members of the community.

Clr Siboza appealed to motorists countrywide to adhere to the rules of the road and warned them not to drink and drive.

“Alcohol and driving does not go together. I hope we will have a safe and accident-free festive season in our region,” said Clr Siboza.
